Pickup advice for PRS DGT

I've a PRS DGT (Mahogany body, mahogany set neck, rosewood board, 25" scale), it has a PRS DGT pickup in the bridge and a 59/09 in the neck (both P.A.F. style). My main issue is with the 59/09 in the neck, it's great split and in terms of the nuances of your "right hand" it picks up it's amazing, however, it's too dull for my liking (it's even a little quacky). I'm looking for a pickup that is brighter ... the ideal neck pickup would be "tele" like when split, then in humbucking mode be great for dirty blues and be able to do some heavier stuff (like cheesy 90s sweep-picking solos  :lol: ). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I like the DGT in the bridge, but would consider swapping it out for something with higher output too and not too bright (I don't really use the bridge position clean or overly bright), although this is a lower priority.

Edit: to add that I'm playing through a Cornford Carrera and am an "at home" player ...

I can't say I've tried one myself but from what I've read on the forum over the last number of years I'd say the VHII would be a good choice.

I had a McCarty with Holydivers and I think they would suit you very well, given what you're asking  :)

Thanks for the input ... from the soundclips I was drawn to the RiffRaff from the vintage selection, but not sure what it would be like split .. perhaps the VHII would be better in this regard. Holydiver sounds good too ... but think I prefer the Nailbomb from the contemporary selection ...

Well The Mule is now in the neck position of my PRS and what can I say, gone is the nasal, limp wristedness of the 59/09 it replaced - there is no mistaking that this is a mahogany guitar with a humbucker - full and throaty - take some of that dirty blues tone  :D The PRS and my Cornford used to be awkward companions ... now they're like old drinking buddies, yakin away together - perfectly matched. The Mule seems to push the front end of my amp a little earlier too despite having a lower DC resistance. I will say that the PRS 59/09 was probably a little sweeter split and quite tele like, The Mule is very good split, but tonally it's more of the same (if that makes sense) - still very good though. The PRS DGT pickup in the bridge now sounds a little thin, so think I'm going to have to order another Mule 8)

Glad it's working out for you, though I had no doubt it would, they're great pickups. I've never thought about only getting part of a set as I'd always assumed that whatever was paired with a BKP would sound awful in comparison so I'm pleased to see I was right  :D
