That's actually pretty funny since I heard the ATHM50s as having too much bass when sitting squarely. I had more problems getting getting mixes to translate well to other systems with the Audio Technicas than the Ultrasones so I guess that's where my opinions come from. If I was mixing at night, I'd spend more time on monitors the next day with the ATs. I'd always mix things too sharp with em. That's just my experience. The S-logic is totally dependent on how you have them stuck on your head. c--ked back or forward, it's gone. To each their own though, use what works for you.

Hi ...

at first i'd like to thank jacksonJR for the comments and for the tip with the ultrasone  :D realy appreciate it and i ll give the compliment to our singer  :) ... he ll be pleased for sure  :D

the ultrasone is a tad too expensive for me but if my supplier has some i ll check them against the ath ... maybe i should safe some money so i can afford all the things i need at once ... there is a lot i have to buy before we can start to record our longplayer ... and headphones was the last i thought about  8) ... damn

@MDV ... so you mean i should use rockwool in the corners plus convoluted foam ??  :x ... isn t it better to look for new monitors??  i have a pair ALESIS 620 and i think even the cheapest ones with an 8'' will blast them lowend wise??

Anyway ... A BIG BIG THANK YOU guys ... your tipps are more than welcome and i realy appreciate it that you spent that much time too reply and give hints and tipps

Greatz M

Yes. Rockwool, across corners and seperated by at least 10cm from the walls.

New monitors wont help. Plenty of even half decent monitors with 6" drivers go down to 50Hz just fine, in a good room!

Agreed. And don't forget proper monitor placement. Have them either closer to the floor or the ceiling, not in the middle to reduce frequency interaction. Too close to you or too far apart will have you mixing things with a messed up stereo field. You'll either mix way too wide(too close to you and eachother), which never makes for a believable soundstage or tend to mix things almost monophonically(too close and too far apart), resulting in a needless mess where you can't really hear what's going on with all the instruments fighting for the same little bit of space. The latter is also a problem to watch out for with headphone mixing.

edit: For placement of diffusers for monitoring accuracy, sit in the usual spot where you listen and have a buddy move a small mirror around on the walls. When you can see a monitor, that's where it goes.

+1 I've been mixing for years, and THE most important thing in a studio are bass traps and sound of the room, not the speakers.

adding to that the distance between them is very important, too wide=too thin too close=too bass heavy
