Other hobbies

I'm a dork so I like to look at the stars and have a good bit invested my telescopes and eyepieces. Right now my best is a big ass Zhumell with a 10" aperture, it's about 4 feet long. I can see color and detail in Saturn when it's out. :D

What other hobbies do you guys like to indulge in when guitars and music get you feeling too single-minded?

Nice light bucket :D

I had a telescope and really liked looking at the planets.  I even did sketches of Venus for a while.
But as somebody who just wanted a quick look now and again I never got on with trying to remember how to set up the EQ mount and just gave up.  When funds and space permit I'll get a Dob and get into it again.
It's such an awe inspiring thing to do though.  As long as you don't get telescope GAS!

I like photography which is a nice quiet hobby to balance against the noise of loud guitar but ultimately most of my non-guitar playing hobbies are guitar related.  Like choosing, setting up, tweaking, polishing, messing etc

I guess running and keeping fit are also hobbies.

Don't worry about being a dork though, don't forget Brian May made it cool

My main hobby instrument is only about a foot long so it can be quite disappointing when I'm trying to look at Uranus. Thankfully I do have quite a large aperture, so that's some compensation...  :?

Does this count? Making electronic music on the pc? And: long walks with my bordercollie, reading literature, testing wines and discuss the quality, have dinner in town, visit concerts, watch good movies etc etc.

Ditto martial arts, specifically Wing Chun.

Think we've been here before, haven't we?!?!

I'd love to get in to stargazing, although the thought of Daves foot-long instrument does intimidate me somewhat...  How woud I fair with Uranus using a paultry 5" tool?  Would it be worth my while..?

Cycling, both mountain bike and road. I actually ride the road bike more often now! Biking has definitely overtaken guitar as a hobby for me now. I just don't get much pleasure from playing guitar for any longer than half an hour any more :(
