It's close but half of the "djent" in that video is low single open string notes which by the original definition isn't djent, if it ain't a palm muted power chord of preferably 4 strings with lots of upper mids, then to me it isn't djent.

But then the term is applied to pretty much any band with anything to do with either Meshuggah or 8 string guitars so I can see why it's incorrectly used.

I dunno, I always thought it described that and also that kind of quacky-twangy sound that can be made on the single string stuff too. If not then at least the single string sound is synonymous with the original meaning, it's very rare you get one sound and not the other in any given song.
