Fantastic guitar but those heritage R.I's are going up in value and I doubt it would be less than £2500.

Played recently some used Les Paul Classics and some are quite good. I like the necks. Don't like the pu's though, but they're easily replaced by BKP's. The quality of the new standards seems somewhat unstable and I see them offered used quite often. Doesn't mean you can't find a good one. Test thoroughly.
When I see the love Feline puts in his guitars, I think they can compete easily (never played them, heard them on youtube). The problem only is resale. I suppose a used Gibson sells easier bec of the aura of/around the brand. On the other hand, on this forum there a lot of Feline-addicts...

On the forum we got a number of very good guitar makers on the forum . Feline guitars being one. I think the sale (lion model) guitars, give you a great guitar for a good price.  In my experience you get a lot of guitar for your money. Like telerocker says though resale may not be as good as a gibson. So if you like to change your guitars regulary these may not be for you. If however you are buying the instrument as a keeper does the resale value really matter.

Les Paul Classic - the only guitarI really regret selling. Classic plus is even better. As has been siad pickups arent everyones favourite (although I liked them)

Depends on the buyer, but £3000 is definitely possible.

I just picked up a really nice1995  Les Paul Classic Plus on eBay for $1255.  It has had a headstock break, but the repair looks really good, and it holds its tuning and sustains like mad.  It is a honeyburst finish (with no real burst), never had a scratchplate and has the original case too.  I'd look for a used one of them for value.

I saved for 2 years to go for a R9 (instead of starting with a Standard and working my way up) as I knew I would not settle till I got a '59 reissue. It was well worth it in the end. If you could get to £3k I think you may be lucky and pick up a good one (although they're now nearer £4k new  :( )

I tried about 8 before I found the one that was calling me - they're all so different really. But the R8 is also great and a bit cheaper.
First thing I did when I got it home?........... ripped out the Burstbuckers and put Mules in (with aged covers of course) - absolutely bloody marvellous.

Good luck in your cash-parting activities.

I'd go to Angel Music on Denmark Street. Above Macaris. They have quite a few les pauls all under 2K. Various pickups, colours, standards, customs, a silver burst... good rates! All second hand like, but maybe worth a look.

It might be me but I wouldn't buy a standard. If you're spending that money you're light years ahead with an historic - even if it's an R7 (not that there's nuttin wrong with an R7 - depends if you must have a burst top.)

If you buy a standard the first time you play an historic you'll cry. Even if you swap out all the parts on a standard it'll never sound as good and if you do some selective mods to an historic you'll have a killer.
