Flying v GAS
« on: March 18, 2011, 11:53:37 PM »
I made the mistake of guitar browsing and saw this http://rumbleseatmusic.com/vintage%20guitar%20pic%20pages/75IbanezRocketRoll.html . This sorely tempts me to spend my next months rent to buy this and just avoid the landlord for a while. They are asking $895.
All I want to be is normally insane.

That's a nice classic looking V. Looks a bit pricey too me, but I'm no expert on these kinds of vintage V's.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I agree it is a little pricey, but these play really well. I am hoping to be able to talk them down a little.

Are you in the US?

Otherwise expect total cost of about 850GBP after shipping and import.

Still pretty Ok price I think. I'm sure you could sell it for similar, if it's a Korina.

I never ever saw myself with a V, but this one came up at a very favourable price and I will never regret getting it. A totally wild and unique sounding guitar, especially after I put Mules in it. If it was near mint it's worth nearly four times what I paid for it, F the rent go for it. That's  beaut.

I agree, it seems a pretty reasonable price to me, even if you're importing.

Just one thing about the body wood - I may be wrong, but I don't think these old Ibanez models are actually korina, they're some kind of Japanese hard ash (sen ash?).  I've seen some with multi-piece bodies and quite badly matched grain, but this one looks good.

I am in the States. They will also ship for free to where I live so it is a great deal.  Now the only thing is how to best avoid the landlord. Actually he is pretty reasonable and will probably let me just double up on rent next month. so I am very close to pulling the trigger.

why not ask your landlord outright before buying - say some unexpected expenses have come up (car repairs is always a good one) and would you be able to pay double rent next month.

thats a great deal on the Vee, gorgeous guitar.
