Blackguard Dub
« on: March 19, 2011, 09:27:40 AM »

This is a side project I play in. The guitar is pretty sparse but I thought it was worth posting as all the clips on the channel use the blackguards.  The guitar is a bit more involved around 2.40....

lovely 8), groooove, it's so important and so easily forgotten.guitar sounds nice but the bass gets the prize for good solid grooving.
i'm going to have to look up peter tosh, steel pulse & max romeo & the upsetters on youtube.dub on dude.

Cheers, that's just the thing.  It would be easy to play all over that stuff but I'm always telling myself not now, not now!  Just got to sit back and let it groove 8)

But not sit back so much that I fall asleep :D

theres loads of percusive muted stuff to do if there's 2 guitars, also cranked open note solo's sound great over reggae grooves essentially playing like your sax player is. it makes it a bit more exiting live.i played in a reggae band
for a good few years a while back, v.good fun.

Nice stuff Tom - like that, perfect for a relaxing sit down on a Saturday afternoon. Nice tele as well - did you take the finish off the neck yourself or was it like that when you got it?
I think I hate being indecisive.

Thanks Ian.  The neck is an allparts Nitro finished neck, I just rubbed it down to the wood to simulate wear and get a better feel.  I put some thick coffee gunge on the bear wood to dirty it up a bit.  It's Nocasterish now.

I'll post some close up pics if you want....

That would be grand - thanks!

Looking for a replacement neck myself and may well go down the allparts route. Either there or Warmoth. Will have around £180.00 - £200.00 so might have to get lucky.

Ha, I'm really not sure.  There's just no need to wear woolly hats indoors on a warm day is there!
