In related news my facebook has been going daft with updates today about a thief being traced. A guy had nicked a guitar from a gig and after some cctv and pleading for help he was found and transpired to be a guy from another band. Nice chap.

Disgusting - no honour amongst musicians?

^ I was thinking that when I read it yesterday...

Years ago, I don't remember sh1t like that happening. You'd end up losing leads, straps, etc... or even gaining them sometimes... but that was because we were all hopeless disorganised nurks. I even recall a keyboard player losing a mini-moog, pinched by some passer-by when he thought leaving it unattended in the back of the van, with the doors open, during the get out, was a good idea...

But a musician walking off with another musician's instrument... that's pretty sick :(

Wasn't there a recent story about some famous 59 LP Standard that had been allegedly pinched many years previously?

Yep - Stripe, owned by Gary Moore, is Ronnie Montrose's old '59 that was stolen in the 70s.

Now on Crimewatch  :o

http://www.bbc.co.uk/crimewatch/appeals/2011/03/stolen_vintage_guitars.shtml

I saw that last night.

1 of the guitars stolen was a late 90s USA Strat with a Floyd Rose and HSS that the owner in Italy had had designed for him and was 1 of only 150 made. It was valued at £30k, which I found a bit weird considering the values of all the other more vintage guitars.
Selling lots of gear, enquire within!......

that strat with the floyd is +30K because of the situation surrounding its existence. Like many instruments of worth, it has a back story.
