Musicman Axis - alternative pups
« on: April 02, 2011, 04:08:49 PM »
I've had a Axis on loan for a few almost a week and after much searching around for a guitar and especially a neck that 'fits' me, I've decided to pull the trigger on the Axis.

However, I'm not 100% happy with the stock DiMarzio pups.  I'm looking for some richer, almost darker harmonics that will scream when needed.  The guitar has a basswood body and maple neck with a top mounted Floyd Rose.

I play mostly metal and often in drop D.

Any suggestions?

A Holy Diver is great for the tones you're after. Cold Sweat in the neck (fluid leads) would make a nice combo.
