Of course you can change the stoptail, and of course they are perfectly workable with common string gauges in "standard" tunings. But when you're building a a guitar clearly angled towards a lot of people who are going to have big strings and low tunings, it seems bizarre not to stick something adjustable on it.

Do you think it's angled towards the big strings and low tunings community?  To me it seems more like something for vintage fans who like to live a little dangerously once in a while.

Yeah possibly. Just a single pickup LPC seems SO metal to me. A stripped down custom kinda being the opposite of what I'd think even dangerous-living vintage fans would gravitate towards.

That said, given Gibson's DMT based design team there's every chance a target market never occurred to them at all.

I'm not exactly a vintage fan (certainly not in a "collector" sense), but I am very much a Les Paul Jr fan, and I've always liked the aesthetics of a black/gold LP Custom (but never seriously considered buying one).  Combining the two does seem rather bold and exciting!

Personally I favour the rawness and simplicity of the Junior to the more sophisticated Les Paul 'missing one pu'.  :)

Agree - also the headstock looks like one of those chinese "velly nice" guitars sold on ebay - prefer the original narrow headstocks.

to be honest i prefer "regular" les pauls (i love the looks of single HB guitars, just i'm not sure about H-x les pauls), but it looks great nonetheless! with a ceramic pig and a miniswitch to split coils in place of the tone pot it would slay! ;)
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

Why use ceramic pigs when you can get 90 ceramic pigs in a box xD

lovely guitar, but for the price (i'm assuming it's north of a grand) why would you buy a 1 pup guitar?
if you've loads of money it's not important but a neck pup is worth having even if it's only for using from time to time.
won't even cost more.

Well mainly because of the design. And my philosophy in life is that neck pickups are bad, and therefore should be avioded :)

I think it'll be upwards of 2k, never mind one. Well, if it's still pitched as a custom. What's a normal custom nowadays? Last time I looked at one on a wall it was £2,799 (in GuitarGuitar, not a wee independent).

If it's still a custom, and doesn't just look like one, it'll be reet dear.

It looks too big with only one pickup, kind of out of proportion. Maybe if they made the body a bit smaller it would look better.
BKPs i have: Riff Raffs, CS bridge.
BKPs i want: NB + Trilogies or ITs.
