Hunter, I don't normally have the gain quite so high but I was just testing the speakers at lower volumes and I got carried away! Ha ha. When I'm gigging I like a fair bit of crunch, so the pre vol is about 6 and the drive about 5 for heavy tracks / lead breaks. Apart from the fact it can be a little noisy (mains hum) I really love these amps. On a sour note, the cab is not for everyone, with those speakers it weighs an absolute ton.... heaviest cab I've got!

It's the reason why I got another preamp to go with the Mk50, so I can have the full on drive tone from the Cornford without compromise, and still get stellar cleans and hairy crunch from the Groove Tubes Trio I added to the setup. Best of both worlds.

You've done a great job on that cab.  It looks like it came that way from the factory.
So many pickups, so little time

great job - interesting that its got a bass port like that on the back.  never seen one on an Orange cab, but Hiwatt and Sound City both did.

Why white? Well for me the best looking half stack was the white one on the front of the Marshall book, for me it's the sexiest amp/ cab out there. I'm real happy with the result and so far the mix of speakers seems to be pretty good, albeit very heavy. Our next gig is the 30th so I'll be able to tell whether they working well with the amp.

Ref the port on the back. The cab was a mid 70's and came with a chipboard back and my '72 came with a ply back. As I was going to have a ply back cut I just thought that I'd try it ported as they have loads bottom end and letting some sound out of the back may benefit the drummer. I've got enough fabric to do another if it doesn't work out.

Again, many thanks as your positive words mean alot as this very nearly didn't happen as my patience was wearing thin. I have just got another mid 70's Marshall checkerboard grille that has loads of mojo but it's not the look I like. It came as part of a trade I did with a mate to help him out, I didn't need any more 4 x 12's but he couldn't raise the cash for one of my guitars so it helped him out. I haven't even picked it up yet and I can't decide whether to sell it or do another refurb.... maybe Red levant? Don't know yet .... not sure I have the desire yet. Lol...
