Talk to me about the MQ...
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:14:16 AM »
The other day I found out that the main solo to "Another Brick in the Wall" solo was played on a P90 loaded Les Paul, and that got me thinking...

I've been eyeing different BKPs for my Les Paul custom for some time now, that little tid bit put me over the edge.  Looking at the HP90 selection, the MQ is the one that jumps out at me. The only thing is that P90s vary SO much between models, winds, magnets etc I want to make sure the MQ will get me the tone I'm after.

I don't want something that sounds like a humbucker (duh).  I want something clear, dynamic and articulate.  Almost like a Strat pickup (As previously mention the "Brick" solo is my ideal tone) but with more punch and cream.  The bridge pickup will be a Crawler, that I'm set on.

So is the MQ what I want? Or is there a better option?

I don't think that you could go wrong with a MQ, if it were me I would fit the bridge model in the neck! two reasons I much prefer AV over AIV and I think that it may balance better with the Crawler IMHO
