Just to clarify, I wasn't really concurring with the Miracle Man set as being appropriate here, just that I find the MM neck to be a more natural match than the Cold Sweat with the MM bridge.

I do strongly agree that the Cold Sweat set would be a good choice. The VHII neck is slightly hollower sounding while the CS neck has that more modern "tubular" voicing.. Both are excellent and versatile.

The Tyger "stripes" are angle-ground into the pickup cover (like the battle-worn black covers), not painted on. Unless you specify, a Cold Sweat set would come with just the single row of visible polepieces.

One other recommendation would be to consider a Rebel Yell in the bridge. Although it is alnico, it has the tight low end you'd expect from a ceramic. The voicing is punchy and bright, though the top end is smoother than that of the Cold Sweat.

FWIW, the Holy Diver can work well in brighter Les Pauls (the clips on the site are done in a moderately bright Les Paul custom), but in a dark LP it wouldn't cut through.

actually, in my experience, it still cuts through very well in dark sounding les pauls :D
had in 3 les pauls, one of them being darkish, another being very dark, and it worked equally well for all of them
sounded very dark and muffled in a gibson SG, though

I think I am going to go with a Cold Sweat set in Tyger finish.  I will let you guys know what they sound like once I have them installed.  Thanks for all your help in making my selection.
