I'm a recent convert.  I've never been a big PRS fan but tone wise I could easily get into one.
My first impression was it's like 75% a good LP with 25% of nice fender vibe in there.
Looks devide opinion but strap one on and I rekon most people would just concentrate on playing and really enjoy doing that....

Ha ha!  Another one added to the convert list!  Tom played my ME last week and I had a feeling he liked it  ;)

Exactly what I have fun doing  :)

People get too hung up on the looks - although personally I like the look of most PRS models so it's not an issue anyway.  I can live without amazing maple tops, although they don't offend me  , and I used to be very "anti" the bird inlays, but I've grown to like them.

But anyway, having owned a few PRS guitars now, I think - most of the time - they simply feel better to play than similarly priced guitars from most other manufacturers.  Good balance, nice neck shapes, and they usually have a wonderful resonance you can feel through the neck and body as you play.  I really like that "alive" quality.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

If you can get away without having 24 frets, what about a McCarty. What do you think Dave as you've had a few of those too? If I can get one guitar in the next year or so it's going to be a McCarty.... bugs me that I never had the cash when Dave sold his!!!!  :(

The McCarty is my favourite model.  The Modern Eagle is basically a very nice McCarty with top class woods and a solid rosewood neck!

I suppose, in terms of finding the "half way house" between an Ibanez and a Les Paul, the Custom 22 (or Cu24) probably comes closer than a McCarty (or Modern Eagle).

It's got the thinner body, and therefore different ratio of maple to mahogany, plus you have the Wide-Thin neck option which might suit an Ibanez player better.

Thanks for all the reples and feedback guys! Excellent as usual.

I think as cool as the Modern Eagle looks, this guitar is going to be a main gigging guitar with that in mind I think I will go for the Custom 22. Like the top on it and I am sure it will be a brilliant guitar.

Suppose that leaves me some change left so if I really want a custom 24 in a few months I can get that as well as opposed to getting the Modern Eagle which will wipe me out lol!
