Celestion VX10
« on: May 22, 2011, 12:36:45 PM »
Anybody has experience with this speaker? That's a custom speaker Celestion made for Vox, which seems to be used in most of their small amp, cabinet.

I am asking because I am thinking of getting the wee 10" cabinet from Vox to pair with an Egnater tweaker. If it doesn't quite do it for me, I will be able to salvaged the V10 currently installed in the Laney but if I don't need to do this that would be brill.

is it the one that comes with the lil night train? i wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole personally, sounds boxy and cardboard-y if that's even a word.

To be fair that may be the cabinet making it sound boxy

The cabinet is indeed fairly small and particularly narrow, which could be teh reason for it not sounding too nice. Which would be a real shame because my original idea was to buy this cab and potentially fit the V10 currently in my laney. But if the cabinet is the issue than it would ruin the sound of the V10 as well.

That made me wonder, I already have the speaker I want to use, is there not some people out there just building cabinet which you can than fit the speaker of your choice in?

Zilla Music will almost certainly make you a custom cab to stick your own speaker in.
