how did you get such a punchy sound on your recording
its gotta be more than just compression
and how did you manage to have your output volume so loud without clipping? no matter how compressed ect i make my recordings they always have clipping untill i turn everything down waaaaaay too much what am i doing wrong compared to what your doing so right?

ps that recording was bloody unreal so well made! the playing and production was top class
you have a really wild playing style thats pretty original but still sounding like heavy metal its just excelent

Nothing was added when I recorded it, any compression is coming from the amp and OD pedal, the whole thing took a couple of hours to do against a click and then HJM went in and put some drums to it.

wow congrats for such a great sound the playing just has me in awe of your style (it dosent sound impossably but just well played with nice phrasing ..... basically the right notes at the right time)
are you using pro tools or what?
through a 2203?

basically finding this clip has made me regret getting emgs... i'll eventually replace them with the nailbombs but due to a lack of cash it may take a while

i just got a jcm 800 too (but 100w 2203) how do you get that kinda gain from it
apart from the kick ass pickups what pedal gives that (most distortion pedals dont have the nice harmonics i want and are just too harsh- what pedal are you using overdrive? they have the harmonics but not the gain!!!

hey! sorry to keep asking questions but its just a $%&#ing cool recording

any way i was wondering if the backing chords were in a particular key which they dont sould like they are (could be wrong my ears shite) and if they arnt how did you go about writing them? im just interested in understanding all aspects of theory and this just baffles me! if you did take this approach how did you then write the solo over it?

last question: are you just generating feedback for those howling notes in the intro about 4 secs in and in the outro? i've heard zakk wylde do the same thing but have never figured it out (could be as i have been using a pedal straight into the input since i hadnt a decent amp untill recently and havent yet been able to record with it)

(gonna get the nailbomb sometime soon if $%&#ing sounds great)

The tracks in Em and the long notes are purely sustaining notes played close to the amp cab helping them to feed back alittle.

THis track was a classic case of finding something that sounds great by ear, it can be better to work this way and save the theory for analysing afterwards!

you didnt even change mode over a certain chord or something?

Just picking out chord tones and messing with the b5 alittle but predominantly good old Em.

hi, really like this tone for high gain stuff, it's kinda got a Satch meets Wylde vibe to it. The guitar sound is very similar to the sound satch got on his 'Flying in a blue dream' album. Kinda raw with lots of upper midrange agression. NICE
