destroy your kitchen!

Decided to try tweaking my mini Avenger thingy. I put a bigger output transformer in this recently and stuck in some EL34's to replace the 6V6's. It won't do 50watts because the voltages haven't increased, but it is louder. By how much... in theory approaching 30watts.

I tried to change some values of different resistors and caps, reduce the negative feedback a little, some other stuff. Didn't really like the results. I did however wire the 1st gain stage as a parallel stage again but this time It has a 120K anode and 820R cathode resistor (rather than parallel resistors of the same value). The grid stop at the input is still 68K, which means there should be some roll off since the input capacitance of this stage is now doubled. It did sound good with the stock 220K anode and 1K8 cathode... but probably way to much gain right at the input. hopefully I can give it a test... and probably tidy up... tomorrow.

Also managed to give myself a belt of the old 240v. soldering at 11pm after a 10.5 hour shift on 3 hours sleep following on from another 10.5 hour shift is now in my list of 'bad' ideas.

It defo woke me up!
I've been caught out by that on two other occasions both a long time ago! after which I thought I'd learned my lesson about being careful. Apparently not!

Unlucky on the wake up call!

You need to get some decent clips of this thing.

No sleep soldering is for wimps. You need to take a decent amount of LSD so you can taste whether the circuit is going to sound good or not.  :D

well I've put all that away now.
im pretty bad at feeding myself. I did leave a small space so I could fit a bowl on the side and pour milk and cereal into it.
I work long hours and that kind of means I don't eat at home that much. I should use the kitchen way more though.

I find the kitchen to be the best place for amp tweaking.

perfect height with close plug sockets and a kettle!

what more could you need?

You need my ultimate lazy/efficient recipe

Bowl + can of tuna/mackerel + cous cous + ground almonds + curry powder + water from boiled kettle = balanced meal with protein, carbs and healthy fats without a ton of pans to wash after :D

Bonus points for low GI cous cous, almonds could be swapped for other nuts or olive oil, visually it isn't going to make you put out but for the time saving it'll do nicely

Sure, I also do it with low fat cheese (to avoid those bad animal fats)

Addition I was bored and googled stuff info: Tinned tuna isn't the best source of omega 3 as it is cooked in the can twice and because of this it is no match for tinned mackerel/salmon or proper tuna
