NGD + recommendation

Could not resist the gas for 750 euro, case + candy included and set up by a guitartech. Well you all see it's a Fender Standard HSS-strat, ash body in sienna sunburst. The guitar is in very mint condition, has a great ''ring'' and plays like a dream (for a strat).  Trem works good for a vintagewhammy. It has - when you examine it thoroughly - some little scratches in the toplacquer.
This one has the S1-switch. I don't know if this a pre, but it has nine sounds on tap which makes it versatile. The bridgesaddles have been replaced by graptechs, I think. The former owner didn't know exactly, bec he leaves everything to his guitartech, he says. The singlecoils have staggered polepieces and that looks strange to me with a 9.5 radius. Don't know if these are TexMex. The owner didn't know either.
Anyway, maybe I BKP this one too, like my swampash customstrat. That one has Crawler/IT's. I want something different, but versatile (I play in a coverband, everything from Kravitz to Beyoncé) . I'm thinking Mule/Mother's Milk. Any other ideas?

Lovely colour, and I always like the look of ash.  :D

I don't think those are Graph Tech saddles, they look like regular Fender American Standard saddles to me.

Don't know about the pickups....VHII maybe?  That's always seemed like a good Strat humbucker, but it might be quite bright.

Thx Philly, I love ash too, also the tonal qualities and it's not too heavy (at least this one)

This weekend we rehearse and then I will AB it with my other strat, to know which one is brighter. Can't really play amplified at home since the neighbours have a baby.

The VHII seems appealing. I like most of the clips, but the VHII has serious highs so maybe this one is a little too bright for ash.

That is one beautiful guitar you scored. Very well done.

Can't really help you on pickups for a strat unfortunately, but I really like this burst finish over the ash body. I was after an ash body telecaster when I was in the market for a tele, but the change to the new standard model caught me short. I am not too keen on the neck finish, so I had to score an old model before they all went out, got a good price, but it had to be an alder one. I do love the sound of my tele but when I tried teles before, they always seem to have a nicer voice. Haven't tried an ash body tele since I bought mine... maybe out of fear that I would indeed feel the ash tele would have been a better choice...

All these American Series-models, tele and strat, have satin finished necks and rolled fretboards, which plays very comfortable. I love ash for the punch and clarity. This guitar is mediumheavy, my Patrick Eggle-made MXG strat is swampash and a bit lighter. My alder American Series Tele is the heaviest of the bunch, but still not a heavyweight. Btw, I like that tele a lot.

Is that a std or a deluxe model? I looks like a deluxe model which has the 2 point pivot trem and S1? + its one of the colours for the deluxe range. if so thats a bargain. nice guitar.

SM - Apache - Apache would be a good combinatation

Lovely looking guitar. If it were me I'd consider a covered humbucker too. I always thought these looked cool:

Do they? I remember going to the shop to try them out teh week they came out, and the ones I tried felt like there was a bit more of a build up to the finish on the neck in comparison to the previous version. I am intrigued now, I'll need to check them again... not that I would be in a position to buy a new tele though

To come back to your new guitar, I wouldn't make much change on the cosmetic. It is just gorgeous as it stands.

It's not a Deluxe. It has not the chrome logo. Sienna Sunburst was available on the standard. HSS-models had the S1-switch, which was dropped on the standard in 2008, I believe.

This one looks like Rory went into metal.  :) a chrome cover definitely looks cool.

Cheers! The neckfinish feels exactly the same as my 2000 American Series Tele. I believe this strat is from 2003.

+1, always liked that colour- bit different from the vintage colours, but not crazy either.

Sweet guitar.

I'll leave the pickup suggestions to other people :)

I've got an unfinished swamp ash Strat body at home - I'm getting Sienna Sunburst GAS!

One thing I've never gleaned in my years on this forum is a good place to get (re)finishes done....
