those are nice amps - I always find the JCM800-era of 1987 and 1959 model amps to sound the most AC/DC out of all the non-master amps.

even with a master volume, gain levels without any pedals is gonna be AC/DC.

they DO like pedals though, so bash that HM-2 in the front, get yer spandex on and rock like it's 1983 and Metallica are still a club act.

Haha or like entombed & Dismember ^^

So many people have misinformed on this amp.

It's the 50w version of the super lead circuit. The 1987 model.

Will it accept pedals well. No! Not at reasonable volume levels you're going to need to turn it up loud before the tone is balanced. Due to the very large bright cap on the bright channel.

Will it do that type of gain level you're seeking? No! Not with a ts9 anyway.

Can it be modified to? Sure it can! If you don't mind hacking it up!

Nice amp but not really for metal!

I like how you've said there is lots of misinformation here and then pretty much agreed with everything that's been written, apart from how well this thing takes pedals, which is subjective.

The amp already has a master volume mod, depending on what type it could be fairly hacked up already compared to a 'collectors piece'. someone might even have had a go at clipping those bypass caps, who knows. Since there is an MV in this amp, you can keep the volume lower while readdressing that capacitor/resistance relationship of the channel volume right?

lots of people dislike bright caps, but I don't really have a problem with them.
