MB Strat thru CS amp.
« on: June 23, 2011, 06:39:06 PM »
Had a real treat this afternoon. My nephew came round with a Custom Shop Vibroverb amp he just got off Ebay for £1400. He also brought his Mark Kendrick Masterbuilt Strat. Undoubtedly the best Fender tones I've heard.

The amp is 40 watts on the valve rectifier and 50 on the SS. It's got switchable Caeser Diaz circuitry a solid pine cab and a 15 inch speaker. All round tonal heaven with gorgeous reverb and vibe.

I introduced him to guitar 20 years ago and have reaped the benefits as he's amassed a great collection of guitars, amps and effects over the years for me try.

Gorgeous rig.  I'm learning to appreciate the Strat + blackface Fender tone (and thats coming from a lifelong Les Paul + Marshall guy).

It works for me.

£1400 is a good price for the Vibroverb RI, these were significantly north of 2k new.

I actually had an original '64 for a while. It sounded great, however I ended it selling it fund other purchases.

That's a very nice combo. For clean to light crunch these are absolute stellar.

Very Nice.

I only knew about the brown tolex 90's reissues and they are very nice amps.

My Nephews play a bit of guitar so hopefully they will get more into it and bring some nice gear to mine in a few years!

I think £1400 was a good price too. They were selling in the States for $4000 which is £2500. He got the guitar for a good price too. They were selling here and in the US for £4,625. Coda got hold of 6 and put them out for £1900 plus he was able  to pick the best one.

His star guitar for me is this CS 335. He got the one Gibson used in the ad for £2500 and it's a dream.

I'll try and get a clip sometime with him playing, he's an exceptional guitarist.

Well, that looks very spiffing indeed!
I think I hate being indecisive.
