OK,
well, still dreaming of a USA guitar arsenal to bring back to UK with me LOL.

I have the Gibosn LP Standard
Jackson SL4

Now, as the Jackson plays/feels SO damn well. I am having it re-finished by Ron Pace (www.paceguitarrepair.com) who is a Houston Luthier and used to work for/build Robin guitars). The neck has a rough spot (maybe last owner played wearing rings?, dunno, and has some chips on body). Well got it sooooooooo cheap and like it soooooo much gonna get it re-finished to NEW status for $240 (insurance is paying anyway LOL, long story but cheque is already in the mail, :)).
Anyway, there is a Charvell Model 4 that looks cheap (black, active Jackson pups, volume, tone and a switch for each pup). In abit of a state body wise though) think it is worth trying to buy and get re-finished? Prolly get it for about 120 pounds then re-finish be 150ish pounds.
Also, B.C.Rich Gunslinger (natural, mid 80's, single EMG 81,natural oiled finish, looks CLEAN) dunno price yet as bit rarer.
Lastly, 89' Charvel 3DR. Prolly bout 140 pounds. 1x humbucker,1x slanted single, trem..
Any ideas? best pick? Worth re-fin. on first?

Thanks much peeps,
Nick

NOT at all. Really should be saving ALL for selling cars (which are on loans and will lose money when selling), moving costs, flights, vet's bills to get puppy over to UK without quarantine etc. etc. etc.
Just NEVER really thought about moving back. Now am, just trying to pick up some "bargains" USA wise before moving back to UK.
ONLY major purchase was Les Paul. Jackson was real cheap and what am looking at now is too.
Wanted a wah pedal and an overdrive and got them at bargains too. Just trying to stock up in cheap US before moving back to expensive (for some stuff) UK :)

Yeah, am drawn to the BC Rich myself. May go outside my budget for now though (all is outside really but y'know :)).
Also found a store with a Gibson/Charvel WRC!!!! Wow, never knew these existed. Collaberation between Gibson and Charvel to make a more "metal" guitar back in the day. Apparently Gibson like to deny it ever happened/existed. Very interesting indeed. Maybe more from curiosity but also gets good write-up.

I have a model 4. They are GREAT guitars. For less than 200 pounds it's a steal.
The pickups are all passive by the way. Unless of course they've been replaced by EMGs. But the guitar has an active midboost.
The overall quality should be at least on par with your SL4, if not better.

That neck looks insanely wide indeed. I like the wood grain on the Gibson wayne.

If the Gunslinger is too expensive, give Ben (twilight odessey) a PM. That axe is straight up his alley.

hello, that gibson does look interesting!  i have one of it's decendants, a gibson custom shop Q3000, which they basically made to use up left over parts after Wayne Charvel left.  the "grain" on the body isn't exactly wood grain, the nitro cellulose finish has cracked, although it probably is along the grain.
i don't know about the actual Charvel versions, but the later gibson isn't great.  after those, they tried rock guitars again with the u2, which i've never tried, and then the MIII, which flopped.  i have three of those, one of which is my absolute favourite guitar, if you come across an MIII  you should definately try it.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!
