I've not much experience at all with cabs, most of the time it was at gigs, and I didn't really take note of what the cab was, I just played. Two notable ones though I suppose was I played a Marshall MG half stack, and absolutely as reported, it sounded like canned bees , the other notable one being I played a Marshall TSL half stack and was mighty impressed at the time.
Just ordered my very first cab that I will actually own though ! The Crate 120 watt FW4x12b. I got it for an absolute bargain of a price at £75. So I know it's not the greatest cab in the world, but I couldn't *not* buy it at that price. Hopefully my Blackstar ht 100 head will make up for any shortcomings the Crate may have.
Strange and probably stupid question to ask you amp gurus....
I know the Crate Flexwave head is a Solid State amp, and it's the matching cab that I've bought. I also know the Blackstar HT100 that I have and will be using the Crate cab with, is a valve amp. Will this cause any issues? I'm guessing probably not, because the cab can run 120 watts, and the head is only 100 watts. I'm just speculating that maybe a Valve amp runs a little hotter than a Solid State amp and the cab might suffer through that? Maybe just at high volumes. Or maybe not at all. Can anyone clear that up?
