do you see how my posts have gone from - not that impressed, probably won't get one... to having a set of mods already planned and searching the net every other day to see if its out yet!

Like Philly, I have doubts about preordering. I'd have no problem buying this sight unseen over the net (more fool me I guess), but I'd want it to be at least in stock.

Mine will be going straight down to Feline for a custom pickguard to be made.

I think it will probably be a sight-unseen purchase, unless they turn up at a shop I can get to easily.

Still want someone to 100% confirm about the neck shape though - I can't shake the feeling that someone in the Ibanez factory will get a last-minute uncontrollable urge to whip out a spokeshave and turn it into a toothpick.....   :|

Whereas I was all over it, but now doubts are creeping in.... mainly due to the ordering process, though.

I would definitely mod it, but only to replace the wiring they're making such a fuss about.  Bridge tone or master tone, those cheapo pots and switch would have to go.... personally I might go for a neck/middle tone and leave the bridge pickup wide open.

Pretty silly reason for a recall.

I don't like the fact they're talking about advance-ordering these things.  I'd be happier paying for something which actually exists.....

The neck joint looks a bit weird in those pics - it's like a bolt-on which has been glued.  Why not just smooth it away so there's no "step", like an old V (or a Feline)?

It's a bolt on neck design that has been glued in!

Ibanez have done it for a while as did Washburn on the Paul Stanley models
It works pretty well and means that much less time is needed on the production line

The tone control is a whole lotta fuss over nothing - 5 mins to fix!

Just what it looked like!

Pretty silly/lazy though, for a model which doesn't even come in a bolt-on version!

Maybe PG requested it that way? He's been playing Ibanez RGs (and other models) for years now, he's probably grown really accustomed to that shape.

Maybe, but surely it wouldn't be any less comfortable if they glued it in and then made a "seamless" joint?  They're already 90% of the way there.

It's a lot more work to go seamless
this way they are getting maximum glueing area whilst using parts straight off the CNC machine
No carving or shaping needs to be done and 100% constancy is achieved too

Same is true - or even more so with Gibson 's LPs and Flying Vs etc
Only a limited few guitars ever get a fully carved heel - for the same reasons as above

Yeah, quit yer whinging Philly, all you'll need is an appropriate shade of nail-varnish and a session with your dremel - you'll have a "perfectly carved" heel for much cheaper than they could do it for you.

If I was into the guitar itself, that neck joint, while not as pretty as say the ones Jonathan does, actually looks pretty comfy to me already (I am a strat/tele guy though ).

Ignore Philly.

He's just pissed off that it can't be easily removed for safe storage under the bed.

Plus he's desperately trying to find reasons not to buy a completed guitar...  :)

You know that's not true.  I've bought more completed guitars than you've had hot dinners.

I know... sorry.

But with all the ebay listing fees you could have bought a few more.   PDT_028

That's true.

There were some I listed so many times I made a loss - and that's without including the origonal cost of the guitar.  :|
