some comments on the neck shape vs the 'pukka' version from someone who isn't Paul Gilbert:

Blimey, 2 to 4mm is a lot thinner, if he's got that right!  Chiz.

Good clip though, thanks.  I do really like that red shell scratchplate and I'm digging the pickups.

I thought that too Phil - that's a massive difference in neck size.

Good sounding guitar though, I really like it!

I thought the range of tones was very decent too. The cleans especially were better than I imagined they'd be.

Now the specs are up I found out the original fireman was 22.5 to 26 mm thick, the new frm100 is 22mm to 24mm so not a lot thinner  :D

I have an rg, i have a les paul, if only i had something to sit between the two

yes it does.. naturally i don't blame Thomann for that, but Ibanez. i can even imagine the date slipping further. I'm not that bothered by the delay at this time however.

more and more people seem to be getting them though - theres a few more normal-punter videos on youtube now.

I'm a little less GASed than I was - still a bit put off by that slimmed-down neck.

But if I manage to avoid buying anything else in the meantime (big if!) I may well still take a punt on one when they eventually appear.

I wonder if they're actually being made available in other countries, or is there a worldwide shortage?

Seems like they've seriously underestimated demand, which seems odd for a big outfit like Ibanez.

Let me be the one to put the vacuum cleaner down your pocket. We got a few of them in a shop here in denmark:

I believe they ship worldwide.

If only they would make other, less daft-looking guitars with DAT NECK :(

I just remembered, I saw one of the original korina models at GuitarGuitar in Epsom (how could I forget?  :o  )

Didn't ask to try it though, far too scarily expensive.

It did!  You could tell even from a distance that the neck is pretty humongous.  In a good way!  :D

I was surprised by how very sharp the body edges looked, though - hardly bevelled at all.  Could be a bit uncomfortable.
