Because of prize plonkers like this. There are two message threads going on from him, 1st:

Hiya andy*,
*I don't do ebay, so this is via Cleggy's account.
VERY interested on this, pretty much exactly what i was looking for,
2 things really..
1.) the colour thing is intriguing, in one picture it appears to be more like the Daphne blue colour fender did in this series, yet on the other it is definitely a resounding surf green, i was just wondering if you could upload another pic or 2, just to clarify the colour a bit well,
perhaps in different lighting,
if the upload fee is an issue, please feel free to email them to; XXXXXXXXXX
secondly, another picture request, is if you could just try and show the action height, and the straightness of the neck, as obviously that it one of the first thing's I would check in person.
thank-you in advance,
XXXXXX.

I've sent some pics to your email, along with some other info.
Thanks.
Andy.

If i were able to come on Friday, some time 6,
and i were to like the guitar,
could i not just pay £350 cash in hand.
this allows you to negate paypall fees,
as i am only able to collect the item on friday,
as i am leaving Manchester and going home to blackpool on friday night,
and that is too far to collect,
and i would rather not have the item delivered.
thank-you

Seems reasonable, however meanwhile thread number 2 was also underway:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i still have a bit of convincing to do,
but if i were to purchase,
would i be okay to try the item out on saturday, at around mid-day?
also, if i were to win the auction, try the item, and then feel discouraged in some way, although i see no reason why this would happen, i would still be okay to not pay?
ofcoure, if i do decide to bid, i do win, and i do like the guitar,
cash payment is okay? :]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our stance on this is fairly reasonable, that's a no-no. You bid, you win, it's yours. You want to view it, come see THEN bid or don't bid. Come see it and make me an offer and if you don't take the piss, I'll take it. So my reply was polite but firm.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
You're welcome to come and try the guitar before the auction ends. Then bid on it if you still want to. Doing it afterwards should you change your mind, creates a significant amount of hassle for us when it comes to reclaiming fees, re-listing, etc. It also is unfair to all the other bidders. So we would prefer you didn't bid under those circumstances.
Cheers
Andy.

His however was not:

Forget everything I've said
I will not be viewing / bidding.

Now is it just me or is he mental? I could understand this level of fervour for a custom classic maybe, but we're talking a very reasonably priced MIM Fender Strat here. We're I in the market for one I'd buy the f**ker. If it's not as advertised then you have comback, but I've been straight with my description.
Then there is the serious misunderstandings around how an auction works. It's pretty bloody simple and all auctions work the same way. Anyhow, he managed to f**k that up for himself. I would have graciously accepted £350 for it. But after the barrage of questions, I have a feeling I'd have regretted it quickly. To the banned bidder list with him.
I really, really hate ebay...
