New amp for me. I rather fancied the idea of getting a small amp for practice at home and band rehearsals and whilst messing around on Ebay, I stumbled upon a Laney Cub 10.
I ended up bidding successfully for a pristine example still in the original box for £99.00. To add to the fun, the seller lived a short distance away and so I was able to collect it tonight.
I have just had a quick session using my Slowhand loaded Strat and my Country Boy loaded Tele and the sounds are extremely good and I think I have a bargain. My one misgiving is the lack of reverb but that is not a major concern as I have pedals that will suffice. I am looking forward to plugging the Gibson in tomorrow night.
Mrs 38th hasn't allowed me to play it full blast but for the microsecond I did crank it up, I reckon it'll sound fine. Surprisingly it has a nice amount of bottom end. My youngest son ( who has come to live here) said that I had set the tone to "awesome" almost  straight away. I would say that the tone is very reminiscent of a Fender amp- to my ears anyway.
I may even get away with it for smaller gigs- we shall see.

Sounds good, especialy for that price! I am always very sceptical of anythings smaller than a 2x12, but sometimes it works astonishingly well.

Nice score man! I use a Blues Junior III for small gigs/rehearsels and 10-15 tubewatts can be really loud.

Nice one indeed.

When I bought my CUB12 I'd gone out looking for a CUB10.

I compared them extensively and eventually went for the 12.

The 10 did sound a bit more "Fendery", and it has huge amounts of bottom end for such a small box.

I also thought the 10 had a really satisfying "just turn it on and plug in" tone straight away. If the 12 wasn't sat next to it (it was new and I hadn't heard of it) I would have bought the 10 without even batting an eye-lid, it was that good.

The 12 had the advantage of the <1 Watt input and more tonal versatility. I was still favouring the 10 until I realised that a) this versatility was useful to me, I would actually use it, and b) after fiddling and A/B-ing the two I managed to make the 12 sound very similar to the 10's "awesome" setting.

I went for the 12 and never looked back. But that 10 I tried was a stunning little beastie. At £99 it's an excellent deal - congratulations.

Thanks all. The amp came in the original packing and I noticed the original delivery date being late July. So the owner had had it only a couple of weeks. Result methinks.

Crumbs. I wonder why they didn't like it? What is there not to like? :lol: (Actually, someone who wanted more modern or hi gain would find it a bit lacking mebbe, but I wouldn't have thought someone like that would have bought it or even considered it)

I tried some of the other "little" Laneys at some point, and they were nice, but not enough for me to get my wallet out at the time. The CUB10 and CUB12 just screamed "play me" when I turned them on though. I was a little worried that the one I bought wouldn't sound so fab in my living room when I got it home - but if anything it was even better. Even the missus could hear what I was talking about, it sounds "old" in a good way...

It'll be interesting to hear how you and your Gibson take to it... my 335 loves going through the CUB12, I have a feeling that the CUB10 would have been even better for the mood I'm in recently.

Tried the Gibson and it sounded pretty damn good I must say. I have a lot of gigs this weekend and one of them is in a fairly small venue. I'll set it up next to my regular amp and give it a go. I'll be able to crank it without Mrs 38th giving me a hard time.
