thanks, but i'd probably rather go for a new one, don't the newer ones have the improved clean channel and volume knob in the loop?

also when i say i want one i don't mean i have the money for it right now

An American mate of mine told me to absolutely get the latest revision. That loop volume knob could be a life saver.
As for improved clean channel... What little time I've spent with my Splawn so far, the clean channel reminded me of my old 2210s clean channel.
If it does power ballad arpeggiated chords, it's good enough for me.

hahah. I thought I'd post that up just to fuel your GAS.
I didn't realise that there are changes in them.

The clean on my 2010 Quick Rod is nicer than my JCM800 2210 by a long shot.

I tried it in the shop through a Diamond Amps 4x12 with 2 V30s and 2 G12Hs and the clean tone was really nice, I was surprised by it tbh. It's not so nice through my own cab with just V30s, but more than useable.

The FX Loop Master volume control is a total lifesaver for taming this amp.

the 2210/2205 clean is pretty poor. seems like a bit of an afterthought from Marshall.
I didn't know the diamond cabs did that mix. I might try swapping my T-75's for some G12H a-like taydens then.

cheers!

The cab I used the QR through was 1 of the metal grille fronted Diamond amps cabs, but according to their site is now 4x V30s. I'm 99% sure it used to say 2x V30s and 2xG12Hs though as I checked it almost straight away when I got home as I really liked the cab  :?

cool. thanks for the heads up. maybe they changed it to get a discount buying more V30's? Or maybe it's easier to sell a cab if it just has V30's. personally, I don't reeeaally go for 4xV30s in a 4x12, although it took me a long time to figure that out. sorry to go off topic.

I really wanted a cab with that mix of speakers, but it wouldn't have the power handling I need in a 2x12 to make it feasible

let us know how you get on with the Taydens if you go for it.

I will do for sure, the Taydens have higher power handling than the original G12H's I think. It's the great brit im thinking of. 50 watts power handling.

oh yeah, i mean i'd only be playing it at home too so i'd need that

and yeah i think i heard they'd improved the clean channel. I haven't tried either of them, so i dunno how much improvement there was

I hope to be using it in a band, starting in october.
I'm used to rehearsing with 100 watt amps, and the drummer is an animal. But this one seems A LOT louder than even my 2203.

Anyone using earplugs? I even find my Blues Junior cranked quite loud.

I tried the FX loop volume yesterday. Works like a charm :D
It does take away some of the dynamics of the sound, but I could get a useable home level with a 4x12.
That doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to turning her up with a band though

As for earplugs : I rehearsed for years without which did irrepairable damage to my hearing. Used earplugs for a while but got one of those drummer headphones now, kind of like Paul Gilbert.

you should add a fake jack plug to your guitar and plug them headphones in there, just for giggles.

By the way, I think I just got the perfect 80s hot rod geetar to go with your amp :)
