So I now have a Miracle Man coming my way again to replace the Holy Diver in my baritone for a more old-fashioned and chunkier metal tone. The guitar has a neck single-coil sized neck humbucker which is fashioned after the Seymour Duncan hotrail (it's the Duncan Designed version). I'd like something with more clarity there. In general a clear humbucker sound or a clear and round single-coil sound would both be fine. I'm not after "twangy" sounds, as I like the almost piano-esque sound of the baritone on the low strings, clean, just a very full and big bell like sound (this, I believe, is part due to the scale, the 22 fret position and the big strings as well).
Unfortunately BKP doesn't make a hum-canceling single coil, so I need to go to other pickup makers. Because the guitar has the George Lynch style push-pull pot as only control, there is no possibility of in-between sounds that could be noise-cancelling. Haeussel is a bit expensive, so Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio are looking like my choices. I haven't tried a single one of their pickups in that format and am virtually without any experience.
From the websites I gather options would be
SD Cool Rails
SD Lil 59 (string pull of the pole pieces and the fact that installation on my guitar is slanted worries me)
(both SDs have got some not so great reviews, however)
DM Pro Track (sounds very promising, has got better reviews than the Lil 59)
DM Fast Track 1 (used by Neal schon a lot, whose tone I always liked)
DM Chopper (louder, maybe better for a baritone)
I'm less interested in the Air Norton S, because of its rather hefty output and it seems to be darker as well.
As said the bridge will be a Miracle Man. Guitar is 27" scale, maple neck with rosewood fretboard, mahagony body, set neck.
