Appetite for destruction should never have been followed and they should have retired in a blaze of glory in about 1990 before it all went tits up.

Nah - they should have just released a single LP version of Use Your Illusion and it would have been as strong as Appetite

Once Axl started the whole turning up late nonsense I lost interest to be fair (which was a shame as I'd been a fan since Live like a suicide came out).
I wasn't at the Marquee gig - was too skint to pay to get in, but I played one of Slash's guitars before the gig (was in at Andy's Guitars having some new pickups fitted).

I've said it many times - although I spent years taking the piss and expressing doubts that it would ever be released, I think Chinese Democracy is an absolutely awesome album.  You can reasonably debate whether or not it's "really" GnR, but the music is terrific.
