Johan Gustavsson Bluesmaster Custom '59

Has a honduran mahogany body with a AAA carved flame maple top, glued in mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with crown inlays, 24 3/4" scale length, two humbuckers or P90īs, custom made "wraparound" bridge, Sperzel machine heads.

It is essentially a Les Paul, though, isn't it?  Unless it's a hollow body?  There's a hint of Nik Huber in the body shape.

Itīs been just about twenty years since Johan Gustavsson built his first guitar during an apprenticeship in a furniture workshop in Malmoe, Sweden. Indeed Les Paul-ish. Not hollow, for as far as I know. There is some Huber in the body shape, but the JG-shape is also quite close to the Hamer Talladega, I think.

The Tyler '59 neck on the one I had was awesome - but I've never tried any Suhrs for comparison.

can't remember what the neck was on the one i tried... and as i said, having only tried one of each it doesn't tell you all that much, but i did think the tyler was sweet. Very expensive, though, and I'm not sure it was any better than a custom build which you could get for about half the price from a british luthier (plus with a custom build you can get it exactly the way you want, with the right pickups etc.).

Dave - When we met at Wez's house, which PRS was it that had the rosewood neck? I've been thinking about the feel of that neck and I'm curious. I'm back to thinking about the project build (note: not actually building it :roll:) and I would like something similar. Can you also let me know what the finish was.
