The PRS you tried was my Modern Eagle mate, and the Brazilian Rosewood is raw.  No finish whatsover, and it's as smooth as silk.

The arriving-on-Friday guitar is this:

Excellent, cheers mate. That thing was awesome.

Nice goldtop. Are the back, sides and neck finished in black?
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

It is an awesome guitar, for me it's irreplaceable.

The back of the goldtop is a transparent dark brown, like a darkback '57 Les Paul reissue...

I'm sure that comment is going to generate more than a couple of sarcastic responses.

To be fair to Dave he has consistently said that since he has had it. As far as Dave/Guitar relationships go this must be one of the longest in recent memory (I know the Strat is the longest server in Daves stable)

The Eagle is never going anywhere, never.  I'm happy to state that  :D  All the guitars I own have been put up for sale, or offered for sale, at one point or another EXCEPT for the Eagle.  Since buying it, I've never even once been tempted to part with it.  Ever.

The JV Strat I have I've owned for 22 years and counting.  It rarely gets played though

Philly - yep, Mark did me a deal I couldn't refuse  ;)

Very classy classic. I like the plain yet sophisticated look of Goldtops.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

That's interesting!  I think everything I've decided to sell, I have ended up actually selling, even if it took a while and went for a sh!tty price.

Although having said that, I might have attempted to sell my Tele Thinline at one point, before deciding it was a keeper.  Can't remember.  :?

I've sold every guitar I have ever owned. The Baja is going nowhere for now - I'll also find it difficult to sell on and get a decent price for it considering I have removed the finish from the neck. I did do this for comfort but part of me wonders if I subliminally did it to stop trading guitars all the time and get playing more!

For me, it's a case of the longer I own it, the less likely I am to sell it.  I am definitely a sentimentalist.  But once I do decide to get shot of something, it's hardly ever difficult to part with it.

Yeah - I definitely used to be but over the last 5 years my average ownership time on a guitar was probably about 6 months. Intergalactically stupid! I've had the Baja for over a year now.

Sorry Dave - just noticed the DGT you have on it's way. Looks ace! I'm wondering if you still get the same sense of anticipation of waiting for a new guitar to be delivered  :D
