As for the EL34 thing.

i find El34s to be far better for metal than 6l6 they dont have all that bloat in the low end and they have some great grind in the mids with nice high end.

I also find El34s tighter in general as well which is mainly due to less bloat in the lows

for metal I really prefer 6550s - plenty chunk in the bass end, but TIGHT plus plenty of grind in the mids and clarity in the top end.

it is more than working, sounds ace have through matamp 2x10 with vintage 10's in at mo...does hang over both sides (feet sit ok)

6l6/5881's for me =) I've always preferred the american thing in favour of the marshall stuff :)
