Thrash Pickups
« on: October 16, 2011, 06:20:18 PM »
I'm looking for the best pickup for thrash metal in the vein of Kreator, Sodom, Slayer, Exodus, etc. However, I'd like to be able to play stuff like Overkill or Megadeth, as well as Deicide or Cannibal Corpse (I play rhythm guitar). I have an Epiphone 1958 Goth Explorer and a Peavey 6505+ 112 combo. I've already narrowed it down to four choices, the Nailbomb, Painkiller, the EMG JH Set, and the Dave Mustaine LiveWires. Thanks a lot guys!
Epiphone 1958 Goth Explorer Specs
Body: Mahogany
Neck: Mahogany
Fretboard: Rosewood
Frets: 22 Medium
Scale: 24.75"
Neck: String-Thru
Bridge: TOM w/ Tailpiece

with an Explorer I'd probably go with actives to be honest with the stuff you're playing.

if its a BKP, then I agree that Painkiller would be my first choice.
