I also love the look and sound of a goldtop with P-90s and a wraparound bridge.

I don't get what everyone hears in that first clip. That might as well have been a Vintage (Wilkinson) Goldtop copy. It's all rack stuff.

The second clip is way better. Played through a real amp. But still too many FX going IMO.

+1 on the above. Phil X would have done so much better reviewing/demoing this guitar (sorry Philly)
I think I hate being indecisive.

Is that the exact same guitar or just the same model/year etc?

We get to hear some more of his singing too....

Must admit I do really like those early Foreigner songs.  Mr X is relatively restrained on this clip, I thought.

Relatively restrained for Phil X = 100 times louder than I am on a noisy day. He is pretty restrained on the new vid on their youtube channel as well - nice tele also!

wow. Love the sound! I gotta say i was expecting my pig90 to have snap like that, yet still have the BEEF. it doesnt snap anything like that. is that just the nature of the pig?

I'd guess it's the nature of the Pig '90, or hot pickups in general.  Yes, it looks like a P-90, but it's got different magnets, different wire and it's wound much hotter.

I've been loving the warpig humbuckers and i guess i expected it to sound similar only with more single coil bite, It's quite the opposite actually much more round and mushy. Although i've been using ceramic warpigs and the pig 90 is alnico. perhaps part of the issue there. I really want that will be snappy, but be good in high gain applications as well. tempted to try a stockholm in the bridge

54 Goldtops sound great - I have one and love it, though I probably would pick my 53/58 conversion with Black Dogs if it came to the crunch and I had to pick a favourite Gibson!  I have no problem with the intonation on the wrap around - the straight bars are actually better than the raised 'saddle' staggered bridges, as the staggers are for a wound G string.  I have a lot of wrap arounds and think they help the sustain a lot.  Paul Reed Smith must think so too - look at his hardtails.

So many pickups, so little time
