Both tone pots work the second one just not with the humbucker selected alone. As for the volume pot could I have overheated it so it's not working properly?

Both tone pots work the second one just not with the humbucker selected alone.

If you've used the Duncan diagram as it is, the bridge pickup doesn't have a tone pot!  Only the neck and middle pickups have tone controls, like a vintage Strat.

If you want the bridge pickup to share the middle pickup's tone control, you need to wire a short "jumper" lead between the second and third terminals of the 5-way switch,on the side facing the controls (i.e. the terminal connected to the outside tone control and the "spare" one next to it)

Aha. I followed the SD diagram so it makes sense that the bridge pickup doesn't connect to the tone pot and I didn't know that vintage strats didn't have the tonecontrol wired to their bridge pickup. Well, well, well. It's not too soon to learn new stuff. Thanks for the help once again, Phil.  :D

As for the volume pot I experienced something similar on another strat. In the beginning the pot wasn't working properly, but after a while it suddenly decided to act normal. I can only hope that this strange occurance will repeat itself. I'm really not keen on getting a new pot and trying this one more time, but my lousy soldering skills could surely benefit from the practice (this whole soldering project actually turned out better than hoped).
