Holydiver
« on: October 30, 2011, 05:37:53 PM »
I've put a Holydiver 7 into my guitar and I've noticed that the strings don't seem to have an even output. The lower strings are ok but when you go to the higher ones they sound noticeably louder. I have to take it back to the shop tomorrow anyways because the pick up is sitting at an angle, however it's not angled so the higher strings are closer to the pickup just the whole thing is angling in.

I had a problem before with a guitar before like this and it turned out it was something to do with the pole pieces.

Err, I think it might be something to do with the pole pieces and the pickup height/angle?

They're both adjustable with a simple screwdriver, you can try adjust stuff yourself and see how it sounds  :)

I hate the the technical stuff surrounding guitars - I just want to play the thing! Any idea which way to make the pole piece louder/ quiter?

The Holydiver does sound amazing though, I put some Power Slinkys on it and the whole sound has fattened up exactly how I required, tapping is just way easier with this pickup.

It's all sorted, I asked the guitar shop to have a another look at it and it was done within 20 minutes. The Holydiver is a really cool pickup, the cleans from the PAF 7s were nice (though thin sounding) but the solos were never up to scratch and the Holydiver has fixed both problems.

I've been recording with the Painkiller and I think the PK + HD combination totally works because when a tune goes from clean to heavy it sounds great.
