Mules - Heavy, fun metal side-project with Misha Mansoor
« on: October 30, 2011, 11:51:36 PM »
Hey guys,

Here's a new track from my Snuggles side-project with Misha Mansoor. The guitar used is my Blackmachine B2 with Mules  (no neck pickup used on this track though!)
There will be vocals eventually, but for now this is an instrumental mix

I really dig the groovy riff with drums at 1/2 tempo @ :59.

Very nice Nolly! Recently I got a pair of Mules myself, together with a mahogany Saint Blues Missippi Bluesmaster. They rock!

Sounds awesome Nolly :) I prefer the sounds you get with Mules to those with the higher output pickups. Love the open-ness.

I gotta say, this is probably one of the best tones I've heard on the forum.

I'm starting to think that for recording, "vintage" pickups are where it's at. I had a Seymour Duncan Jazz neck model in the bridge of my Schecter C-1 classic (something like 7.6 Ohms?) and it sounded a bit too bright and open through my amp, but recorded, I think it sounded pretty damn awesome and unique.

When I installed my AM, I LOVED the sound I got through my amp, but the recorded tone might be too compressed. Anyone else notice this about live/recorded tones? Maybe I'm just crazy....

Bottom line, this clip made me want to get a more vintage BKP.

Cheers dudes!
fltlll - You're not crazy, many people prefer the easier playability you get from a higher output pickup in a live situation. I think there's a good argument for both and I enjoy trying out various different pickups for different applications.

Yeah man. Great sounds right there. I really like the push each chord has. You guys wear your signature socks when you lay down tracks?

That's really good - dispels a lot of myths about needing ultra high output pickups to play heavy, aggressive music.

I like!

Damn, that might be the best clip I've heard from you, Nolly. Sounds absolutely massive.
