After the Flood

I was away when hurricane Irene hit the States in September, however we had a flood in the house here in Hoboken.  My music room is in the basement (it's only down 4 steps, so not a true basement, and we have the living room, kitchen and laundry room down in it too).  Fortunately my wife's cousin and his son were staying here and they moved a ton of things upstairs.  These are some pictures of what I had downstairs.

The stereo system (sound on the right - A/V on the left), they moved it all - including the valve monoblocs which weigh a ton!


Music room at the moment (it needs bottom 4ft of the walls replaced and the floor checked and repaired.)

We finally got heat on Saturday afternoon, which was good because mother nature gave us this


There are a few more amps in our back room - my Silver Jubilee, Princeton Reverb II and McIntyre Bluesmaster, as well as some cabs.  We're waiting for the builder and insurance to let us know how much they'll cover.  I have to clear out the room with all the guitars because my sister and her family are coming to stay this weekend!

i'm assuming all the gear was taken out in time?  when i came in here first i had terrible visions of vintage strats and les pauls in terrible states!

not good that your home has been damaged, and i hope the repairs aren't too difficult.  i'm guessing the current weather over there isn't helping.  Good luck with it all Phil

It's nice to see someone else lives in the same kind of surroundings I do! (Apart from the water)

But seriously, hope everything's OK, it must be distressing.  Good luck with the insurance etc.

I have a feeling this winter is going to suck  !

Lucky you had people over to move everything when you were out...Could have been a disaster...
They definitely deserve several cold ones !!!!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.  Nearly all the guitars and amps were safe.  A couple of cabinets were paddling, but my 2x12 Splawn still works without a problem (it seems to be waterproof!), I have a 1x15 EarCandy with a Sidewinder in it, which was in water up to almost the dustcap.  I haven't checked it out yet as my bass rig is upstairs, also my Trace Elliott BLX took a beating (Ihadn't  realised they were only MDF).  The Omniraxx recording desk was hit worst.  all the bottom of it has gone, the casters pushed up the bottom shelves and a few things on the bottom were soaked.  I've let all the electronic stuff dry, but haven't turned anything on yet.  I'm going to clean off the boards before I do anything.

Now the worst thing is waiting for the builders to start.  I am thinking that I should probably have a cleanout too!  I just filled 5 pedal train flight cases with FX boxes and do I really need 11 Les Pauls and 16 Strats?  This is making me play a few guitars that I haven't played in a while, which is a good thing.

Nah, I reckon you could get away with 10 Les Pauls.  Maybe get another couple of Strats to be on the safe side, though.  :wink:

I have another Bravewood on the way and I have a burgandy mist to put together when things are cleaned up a bit!
