Looking for the "Amp of Versatility" within Metal!

Any ideas on some low to mid priced amps that are really versatile, but are still geared towards the Metal end of things? I'm looking for something which has great cleans, a great lead tone, as well as a great rhythm tone. Obviously I'm not looking for the 6505 type of rhythm tone, otherwise I'd get that. Although if you know any versatile amps out there that can get close to a rhythm tone like that, I wouldn't say no, lol. I kind of need something which will track very fast riffing and leads. Like Petrucci's style of playing, etc.

I've been routing through a few forums on here and have come across the Carvin V3, Marshall JVM, as well as a few Cornfords. Also been looking at Jet City?

I'm after a Head by the way.

At least that's what I've got my eye on. Shame I can't seem to save any meaningful amounts though, otherwise I'd snap one up :)

what does "low to mid-priced" mean, exactly? everyone's going to have a different idea of what that means.

also, what country are you in? that's going to affect prices.

that carvin might be worth a look, though i haven't tried it.

new laney ironheart might be worth a look too, though i haven't tried it either, and the fact it's cheaper than the gh and vh, despite having more features, makes me a bit suspicious.

probably some other obvious ones i'm missing, too.

I'll go ahead and suggest an Egnater Rebel (or similar Egnater head). For the price, I think they're hard to beat. They're quite toneful and versatile, really worth a look!

For what it's worth, I bought one because I was away from my amp back home for a while. It can hang with it pretty well, me thinks.

If I get a stereo rig and a A/B pedal down the line, I'll see if I can make a Rebel sound just like a Mesa o,o

That Randall amp looks awesome. Can someone please explain it to me a bit better? As in does the preamp have tubes,or is it just a valve power amp? And has anybody played one of these?

Its a tube amp where you switch out the "sound" part. That's transistors, drives etc. A tube amp is not only preamp tubes and power amp tubes.

Imagine a marshall jcm 800 with only tubes, but no "Chip" plate( i dont know the english word for that part) xD
