Heya Guys, im in the proces sof buying the Telecaster Brown sugar pickups and was wondering what the box that says

"Make and model of guitar to be retrofitted:" is for. Do i have to right anything in there?

it may seem like a basic question but dont want to type anything wrong just incase.

For a tele you should be OK, it really applies to the humbuckers most. It determines if you get a short leg (PRS, Ibanez I think too), or a long leg (Gibsons and everything else). With a strat it can also determine the base shape (regular or EMG). I can't think of anything that might change on a tele!

i put the fender standard telecaster mexican left handed under retro fit

im getting the shop to install them because i really don't want to mess it up. i'd rather practice on some cheaper guitars before risking breaking my tele lol

I recommend getting a 4 way switch to give neck/bridge series in addition to the usual parallel position- well worth it for minimal outlay- check out my Country Boy clip to hear the effect.

is this the type of thing you mean?

also does a 4 way switch vary for right handed or left handed guitars as i'm lefthanded and don't want to buy a switch that only fits right handed guitars.

Also im getting my guitar done in a shop as i have never done a pickup change before and was wondering how much more a shop would charge to fit the 4 way switch? approximately. They gave me a quote of 35.00 for sheilding and they said that it would be next to nothing to fit the pickups as they are easy.

i would do it my self but on a 400.00 guitar im afraid for my first go. i'd rather buy some cheap guitars and practice on them and then work my way up.

Yeah that is the switch. I am not sure about l/h guitars but I would imagine that it is the wiring that matters- i.e. the tech will just reverse the wiring as the tags are there anyway ( If Phil King checks this post I am sure he will correct me if I am wrong). I can't see it adding to the costs- he'd have to wire a switch in any even. With the switch back ( i.e. pointing to the neck you get the n/b series, then next indent is n then n/b parallel and then b. It means a slight adjustment in your thinking but it takes a few moments and then you have that extra oomph at your disposal. Everyone says it is easy to fit pups and I did see a tuition vid for Strats and it does look easy but, like you, I'd prefer to have someone else do it for me as I know then it'll be done for me. I am currenly working over 50 hours per week( I thought that it would ease up after Christmas) and that is another factor. You could always watch them do it to see how it is done. Good luck anyway.

thanks beatle when u say that when the switch is clicked all the way back towards the neck position u get the neck and bridge sound?

which position do you click the switch to to achieve just the bridge sound on the 4 way switch?

also if i kept the 3 way switch what would happen with that other wire that wasn't wired to the switch. would it be loose?

Hi, the 4 way would work fine in a left hand guitar. Positions are:

back (to bridge): Bridge alone
pos 2: Bridge + neck Parallel
pos 3: Neck alone
forward (to Neck): Bridge + neck Series

heya guys, my pickups arrived today, they are stunning lol

will be having them installed sometime soon. I see there is instructions on how to install them to a 3 way switch. i was planning on buying a 4 way switch. will they still fit to a 4 way switch? or would i have had to included that when buying?

i hope they will be ok to go the 4 way switch.

There is no problem to add a 4 way switch later, the wires from the pickup stay the same.
