Anyone catch them on Jools Holland?

 :?

Pretty cr@p, really.  Although Kirk didn't use a wah pedal, so I guess that's a good thing.

I find it hard to believe that nobody in the management/friends told them this would be a $%&#ing terrible idea. Perhaps they were just too afraid to say no to Lou Reed.

This is just conjecture, but I'd have thought the project would've been driven by Metallica - or more specifically Lars Ulrich - rather than by Lou Reed.

I can't imagine Reed really giving a sh!t about working with Metallica, but I can definitely imagine Lars getting all worked up about how hip-and-cool it would be to work with Reed.  Then presumably the other three just went along with it.

Anyway, they made St Anger - how much lower could they go?

I haven't seen this performance but several people have mentioned it to me and in a ghoulish way, I think I'll have to track it down on Youtube of something. Lou Reed is very much up his own a*se and I am sure that that contributes to the fun. Bless him.

It is very painful. Kind of like watching your granddad going through some sort of mental episode.

Except that you don't love Lou Reed as much as you would your granddad.

He's someone I sort of admire and wanted to like, to when I saw him being interviewed with Lars he seemed a right tosser.

I have seen it now. Not my thing at all and there have been times when I have liked some of his stuff too.
