New toys of the stomping kind
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:05:38 PM »
These to fun boxes just arrived today  :D

A MXR MC-404 Wah is substituting my old Cry Baby and from what I've heard to day we're going to have a beautiful run together. I also got me a TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb as my MOD50 hasn't got any. I need to fiddle some more with this, but I already got some good results  :D

And of course I'll pay homage to the Fernando rule. Pics or else...

I like the MXR much better than the Cry Baby (it's the standard CGB-95 I have). The MXR has a broader sweep and sounds much more "musical" to me. The yellow fasel gives you what I'll describe as a classic wah sound - somehing like the Cry Baby but just better and the red fasel gives you a thick and darker tone which kicks ass combined with some distortion. It gets you in tonal teritory with the Cantrell wah I think (even though a haven't played one). Then there's a boost as well so it's one versatile and super sounding wah. You won't regret buying one, Dave  :D

Congrats! Both nice pedals. I believe Hunter has the MXR too and he is very pleased with it. Maybe I'll get one as an addition to my good old Vox.

thanks. yeah i have the gcb95 too (and i haven't tried the cantrell either). Nice to know that someone who also has a crybaby seems to think it's a worthwhile upgrade, I always mean to mod my crybaby, but it's me and i've never got round to it thus far
