Giving the Nailbombs another shot
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:30:47 AM »
As some of you may remember, I wasn't too chuffed with the Nailbomb set I installed in a Les Paul Traditional.
The guitar was quite dark to begin with, and with the NBs she definitely lacked bite.

I've ordered a new guitar (expect a thread soon ;) ) and even though it's also a LP, I'm going to give the NBs another chance to convince me. If they don't work out, I'll go with Emeralds.

Why not, you already got them. I hope they'll work. Emeralds would certainly brighten up the tone. I can imagine you could be tempted by Cold Sweats too. They perform good in LP's.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

You could always try replacing a pot with one of a higher value to brighten it up.

Yeah, I know. The pickups that are in there now did the job though.

I'm not sure if the basic tonality of the NB agrees with me. But as there's little interest from potential buyers, I might just as well give them another go...
