Ok, I'm gonna be the black sheep here I guess. I've never been a VH fan, I like a few classic tunes but that's basically it. That said, I think this song is about as good as most of their early stuff. Maybe even a little better. I especially love the chorus.

You know how it is, you fall in love with an album (let's say VHI) and even if they get the exact same gear that they used back then and write very similar songs, it's never gonna sound as good. Just because you've learned to love the original. I think emotions and nice memories are at play here and it sometimes clouds our judgement of a brand new song.

EDIT: The video still sucks though. Talking about amateur production...

I'd love to work for Van Halen. It appears that you can produce really bad videos and still get paid for it. The worst video I have seen in a long long time.

Also, and a little embarrassing, I listened to 5150 for the first time ever today and hadn't realised that "Why Can't This Be Love" is a Van Halen song.  :oops:

I never bought into the Dave vs Sammy bullchit. Different animals but I loved them both.

I agree (although I guess it's dangerous to feel like we know so much about someone we've never actually met!)

From all I've read (and it's quite a lot) I'm very much on the Mike/Sammy side of the VH split.  I respect Ed's talent and musical achievements, but as a human being he seems a complete and utter dick.
