Mesa Tremoverb combo conversion by Zilla Cabs!
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:16:04 PM »
Hey,

Thought I'd post up these pics of my Mesa Tremoverb combo conversion. It used to be a stock black 2x12 combo, I had it converted into a head and cab by Paul at Zilla for two reasons, 1. The combo was so heavy that no one man could lift it further than a couple of inches from the floor! & 2 I like to play with EL34s which seem to rattle alot more than 6l6s and could not deal with being housed in the same chassis as the speakers.

The conversion solved the two problems.... well, its still very heavy but I can move it on my own. It sounds great! The speaker cab is a Fatboy 2x12 with the combo's v30s installed. I wish I had ordered the open/closed back option on the Fatboy though as I do miss the open back sound for practice.

My girlfriend is getting into photography and took some pictures of the beast a while ago, enjoy.

It does indeed look badass!

As soon as I sell off my old amp and cab I'm going to grab a Zilla Fatboy.

Wow, that is awesome! Paul does some fantastic work. I'll be getting another Fatboy later on in the year I think, maybe a Super, I dunno yet.

The Super would be insanely heavy! I suppose you could get the casters, i just feel the Super is kind of overkill unless you have an amp you want to add alot of bass to. You know he doesnt list all of the tolexes he has on the website? I went along there and had a look at them, was gonna get a black western tolex with a basket weave grill

Indeed, last time I spoke to him he said he was getting a shed load of really mad looking tolex's, and I almost went with an uber fr00t looking cab, but thought I'd better keep it simple to match the Blackstar, lol! I'm debating one of the 'jesus christ my retina's hurt' green ones next. But no doubt I'll probably just get one to match what I have now...

I must admit I've only just this minute realised Zilla is a UK business.

For some reason I've always assumed it was American.
