Have been impressed by some of the clips and I'm not really a digital/modelling fan.

This is one of my favourites (especially the last minute) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qs4arEelwM

I think the software has been giving some problems to a few people and appears to be upgraded quite regularly but to me sounds better than most of the other digital amps on the market.

It does sound very good. Just think of all the profiles you can share online. I want a go on one :)

Just looked at some of the other videos this guy has uploaded.

http://www.youtube.com/user/5v1L0

He has got  (or has access to) shedloads of gear and always manages to get the same (good IMO) sound whatever he is playing through. If ever there was an example of 'It's all in the fingers."

Cue some buffoon and "Nonsense, you try getting a Tele and a Twin to sound like a Les Paul and a Recto"

I want one of these.

If nothing else a way to dial in a sound with my amps and mics, store it, track with that, and be able to take down the snipers and attack dogs that I put up round my mics and settings in case someone even looks at them funny would be extremely useful for me.

It would free up the mics and amp in use for other work, and it would make tracking less painful, extend valve life, all sorts of cool stuff. I want one, even if its just a decent emulator, not as accurate as it seems to be, I can reamp after tracking with it.

That's the thing I was thinking of Mark it's just you have a different way of expressing it than me

If I mic my Koch up I have to try and get finished fairly quickly or I'll end up tripping over it. Oh ffs but you know what I mean! With one of these you could come back to those settings time after time without fear of disturbing your set up.  I'm sure if the profiling was carried out correctly you would be hard pushed to hear the difference in a blind A/B test on a finished recording.

I'm still impressed on the sound you got nfe on the album you recorded a few years ago using Guitar Rig.
Hunters Axe FX was a other impressive digital sound.
It's definitely getting better all the time.

Digital surpassed film a while back now so it's only a matter of time that these things will sound the same as valve amps. Not that I dislike valve amps I love them but I've only got room for one in my shoe box and I can only use the power of it in rehearsals. I like to say gigs too but being in a band and Hoping that everyone gets on with each other is a bleeding nightmare!

The only downside to this is if you are cr@p at micing an amp it will sound cr@p still.

I guess you could do it via a slave/line out but that wont sound anything like its meant to.

I considered getting one as i have loads of points at andertons that would effectively make it around £800 then i realised that i suck at micing amps.

Well how hard can it be? Read up on it. Watch a few instructional videos of how to do it. Have a few goes. I would hire a rehearsal room so you can get the amps cranked.  Some of the rooms I've used have marshalls in so you could use those too. It would take a bit of effort as opposed to sellotaping a mike on a wobbling stack of books in your bedroom but it only needs to be done once.
I was using guitar rig most of yesterday and would have loved to have had a Kemper with a shed load of profiles on tap :)

Haha i have done all of that. Ideally you need a well treat room and an engineer type friend to get the best out of something such as this. Or maybe an iso cab.

Another thing that concerns me about the kemper is the fact that when you are using it to jam with people and such (if you use it outside of a recording evironmen is the fact that your sound wont sound like an amp in a room. It will sound like a single tracked recording of a mic'd amp which sounds absolutely dire in comparison regardless of who has done it.

For a purely recording approach though it is incredibly fascinating.

^ I take your point about treated rooms but there has to be a cut off point as to how fussy you want to be. This thing sends out a weird sounding signal through your amp to profile it. I've mic'ed my amp at home with very nice results so I'm sure it can be done with some help and advice from other users.

Why will it sound like a single tracked recording? From what I've seen, if you hook it up to a power amp you have a guitar amp.

The cavity in the back is supposed to be for a built in power amp which they (possibly) are developing for retro fitting. (Now some doubt that it might be for a Mk2 version?). You can then switch off the cab emulation part of the profile and use your own cab(s). The included profiles generally seem very good (as they were professionally recorded) and there are already dozens (of varying quality) appearing on the Kemper forum from owners.

Because at the end of the day all that the kemper "profile" is, is a single tracked captured moment and then doing some dynamics processing and creating an impulse of the rig.

Im not knocking it i just dont think it will sound the same as an amp will in a room.

Every clip that ive heard sounds like a recorded amp rather than a live amp but all other modellers also sound like a recorded signal rather than a " in the room" signal.

I'll do some digging later because i actually found something thats a fraction of the price of the kemper and does the exact same thing. I found it when i was looking for ways to make impulses of my cab.

Well I'll look forward to reading what you dig up!  :D

I know this gadget sets off the sceptic in us guitar players. I love my amp and my posts regarding it is the only reason I'm a member here  but seriously I suppose the only thing to do is to get a go on one for an hour or two. Would it be ok to plug it into the return of an effects loop?
