Epiphone SG with no pickups/electrics - it does have a set of upgraded Tone-Pros tuners, though! There's a post about this guitar on here somewhere when it was still working - it has a very interesting headstock, not the little Epi one, but nearer to a Gibson shape, and I was wondering if anyone knew owt about it. Various SG experts on here weren't able to say for sure what they thought it was.

That sounds like it might be a Japanese Epiphone, don't remember you mentioning it - got any pics?

If the headstock's a "proper" open-book Gibson shape, then it's definitely a domestic market Japanese model.

If it's a slightly tapered shape with a curved top edge (but no "lip" in the middle), it's also Japanese but an Elitist (or Elite) model.

Edit: Just found this old thread, must have missed it at the time:

https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11508.0

I don't think it's Japanese after all, not with the 3-screw trussrod cover - and it just doesn't look"right" for any MIJ model I've ever seen.  The MIJ Epis basically replaced Orville/Orville by Gibson and the area around the nut looks completely wrong for any of those.

I don't know as much about the Korean Epiphones but I'd have to assume that's what it is.

A hopelessly ambitious 3-channel preamp with relay-switched gain stages and channel routing to switch in external preamps, tube rectifier and all-tube parametric EQ. Currently in the bottom drawer in my kitchen.

Warmoth L5S body - Black Korina w/ birdseye maple, not sure on the neck, perhaps I will use a rosewood blank I've, perhaps a Cocobolo fretboard and headplate that I also got... Or get a Black Korina neck from Soulmate...

I'm not counting all the woods I've bought through the time, but I've:
white korina blank for LP or Tele
1 piece ash body for strat
1 chunk of maple that can be made 3 guitar necks
1 blank of figured Purpleheart that can be made a deep set neck
Some fretboards blanks: rosewood, ziricote, a very flamed maple
Some guitar tops: Spalted maple, burl maple, birdseye maple, a wormy-eaten 5A Spruce top for a Il Teredo Benedetto archtop alike...
God knows what more....

Only thing I got is a cheap but decent strat copy that I need to put together and up for sale.

If you're interested in parting with some of your unfinished teles, Philly, then give me a shout  :D

4 Warmoth Tele bodies
3 Warmoth Strat bodies
1 Warmoth LP body
1 MJT relic Strat body

3 Warmoth Strat necks
2 Warmoth Tele necks
1 Warmoth LP neck
3 Fender Strat necks
3 Fender Tele necks

A few other really old necks and bodies from Fender, WD and Palm Bay which I'm not really even counting.

More bridges, tuners, pickups, scratchplates, screws, pots and switches than I could ever begin to count.

PRS SE EG with all the electronics and hardware stripped out.

Tokai SG with no pickups.

Ancient Hamer Special with a disintegrating finish.

A couple of 1980s superstrat projects with various missing parts.

Hmmmm...... this isn't making me feel any better.

:)

Love it.

I have a set of Nailbombs without a home currently.  I'm sure they would LOVE your pickup-less  Tokai...

Nah, it's an SG.  I don't think Nailbombs would suit.

Awesome Thread lol.

I got a older ESP LTD F-200 basswood that I figured instead of buying a brand new guitar for $1500 - $3000 I'd just upgrade this one.

When its done It'll have :

-Wenge with maple stripes / Ebony fingerboard neck with stainless steel jumbo frets and abalone fret markers : Custom order from soulmateguitars.com!
-Grover standard tuners
-Earvana aluminum floyd nut
-BKP Holy diver for bridge and a (( I have no clue yet lol )) BKP neck pickup. Probably abraxas, emerald, or crawler!
-Gotoh Floyd rose
- Floyd upgrades Titanium saddles, Brass block, brass claw, EVH De-tuna, and basically everything else from that site that is Floyd based lol.
-Nickel something cavity shielding (( I can't remember exactly what it was but it's grey and it works ))
-1 Meg Alpha pots
-6 way Jimmy Page switch from Stewmac.com
- and some other stuff I probably haven't found yet lol. Gotta love the internet  8)

PU's owned : AWPb, CWPb, MMb, CSb, HDb, HDn, Mule n, VHII b+n

I have an old Hofner 175 short scale bass. I have fixed it up years ago but it needs a better job.

I'm want to refret it, plane the board, body refinish, repro pickguard, aluminium bigsby bridge on a flat aluminium base. Though I can do all the work myself, it will cost more than the whole thing is worth.

A Bigsby on a bass?  Or is this a non-vibrato Bigsby bridge?  I'm curious.  :)

It has a fixed tailpiece but it originally had a bridge like the Bigsby compensated bridge. It's a strat model bass. It needs a very low profile floating bridge unit.

I have looked at other bridge units but all of them have too much string spread.

Actually it's a 182.

Eventually it will look something like this.

see, this isn't helping, I just found myself going "I wonder if I could find an Elitist on Ebay and mod it..."  :?
