Guys, thanks for all the suggestions... I really like the look of the splawn amps. Does anyone have any feelings on Egnater amps?

I own an Egnater MOD 50 amp and I really like it a lot. I have also played an Egnater rebel 20 and it sounded really good as well. Have a look at Egnater's Tweaker 88 or Renegade (Tour Master as well as you have mentioned earlier). I think these amps can deliver the goods for you.

Have heard many a good thing about Splawn amps. I personally love my Mesa Boogie Stiletto, and it definitely gets real heavy. If you could fix everything wrong with a JCM or Plexi (not saying there is though) it would be the Stiletto. Alot of people are getting into the Royal Atlantic as well.

Egnaters don't do it for me, thy sound quite cheap to my ears.
Would you consider a marshall TSL or DSL?
Soundwise a DSL is the Thunder and the TSL the lightning.
Both really high gain, but 2-3 channels with different voicings, they do everything you have described in your first post here.
Also, you can change the power amp tubes in those to change the voicing even more.
They are also cheap, I've seen a dsl with matching cab here in edinburgh for 600... used of course.
So you could actually buy 3 amps with cabs...

I'd also take an other look at the orage amps, mick thompson uses them, and he sounds quite heavy to me.

I'd make something that will nail Zack Wydle tones well within the £2300 budget, you'll have the thick end of a grand left over from that budget.

A 2203KK would be great. Or what about a Mesa ElectraDyne? Just got one myself and it's like an 800 with some bells and whistles, much more low end if needed and a bit more bloom to the tone (so it nicely flips over to harmonic feedback).

Yeah, if one doesn't think Marshall's have enough of what one likes, Mesa's are a great choice in that regard.

I can only recommend HTH. Nice guy who takes pride in his work and the 5w fender type I got from him is just bloody amazing. Best cleans of any amp I ever had the pleasure of trying, hands down. So clear, defined and full of mojo. Quality, handmade and custom stuff all around at a price where you normally would probably get machine made chinese stuff.
Once you go custom you probably never go back^^
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid
