To completely cut yourself off and remove the temptation of easily returning.

I actually deleted my account a few months back because i got sick of seeing all the bickering and mindlessness.

The only reason i came back was because i got told twinfan was selling some =C= valves at a good price so i came back to grab them and im here again but i have no idea how long for.

I often find myself elsewhere when im on the net as there are many places that are more gear oriented.

After reading your post Steve it got me thinking about how things were. I haven't been in here as much as I used to be but remember when someone joined and we all said welcome to the forum? Did that stop or have I just not noticed it?

Shobot don't go, you're a good laugh, own Charvels and have a very interesting knowledge of Whiskey!  :D

It does seem to have stopped. Or doesn't happen as much.

To be honest the forum currently isnt that bad. But it is on the slippery hill to harmony central

I certainly try to remember to welcome people. Sometimes it does slip ones mind though or one just does not notice the 1 beneath the name.
Learned to do that by example of others and try to pass it on, like many other things.

Mhhh whiskey, we certainly need a thread for that. Just starting to get into that world after getting a crash course from a gastronomy critiq a few weeks ago. Kinda knowing how to taste it makes such a difference....now I want a bottle of 18 or 21 year old Highland Park^^
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n

I think it has a way to go before it's as bad as HC

I've noticed myself being alot quieter here nowadays than I used to be. I think alot of it comes down to the types of questions now being asked, and the genres they're being asked about.

I've noticed over the last few months that there's more and more 'Djenty' and 'Br00talz' (neither meant as an insult, just dunno how else to describe it  ) threads appearing and as they're genres of music I have no knowledge about what so ever, I'm not in a position to give pickup suggestions or advice on amps etc.

I think it'd be a shame if Shobet and others started leaving they're decent guys who I've met a few times who are great for a laugh and atleast I know we have music tastes in common :band5:

Right then

I got fags, a plan to binge drink for the evening, more EMG equipped guitars than BK equipped and nothing to do for the night.

Is this a bad time for you to ask me my opinion on religion, sociology, politics, authoritarian governments, infringements of civil liberty, substance abuse, substance indulgence, the difference between them, online freedoms, privacy in the information age, and cyclists?

Just dont talk to me about anything serious like PRS or PTP wiring. Keep it light hearted.

Speaking of, I have an SE in for setup. Good god. Better than most gibsons, I suppose.

I too had that feeling of forum downward spiral, but it was mostly me just taking things outta context or just having a bad week and everything pissed me off......Though I think I was only involved in one heated thread.

To me, I think BKP's move to not do custom stuff anymore really turned me off.  Now don't get me wrong, BKP makes great..GREAT...GGRREEAATT pickups.....but to me...the custom option was the main selling point.  Having a tech tweak the pups winding or whatnot to better suit your guitar or style really made it your own......and that is why I did not mind paying the small fortune these pickups cost.  (USA Price for me)

See, this is a good point. Subjects like religion and politics don't really have a place on a musicians' forum do they? Divisive topics like those always cause friction and resentment. Which is why I tend to pop up in those threads asking what picks people use.

I dunno. I get vexed about people used the wrong picks. YES there are WRONG picks. Don't get me critically vexed!
