I need either a V or an X shape :P

I almost went on a rampage after a dude stole a Voodoo V in front of my eyes last time.

Funny you should mention customs...stubled across this guy today and found he'd do a custom 7 (with Bareknuckles no less) for less than Mayones want for a stock model.

Shipping and customs will likely be a killer, but still caught my eye.

for me, a custom needs to be done locally. I need to inspect every detail, and supervise the process :P

Luckily for me, a friend of mine is a very talented luthier

Would not the Mayones Setius 7 be a comparison more of a Prestige Ibz?

I think a Prestige Ibz would be tasty though in the UK the 2012 series of 7's seems a bit pants to me.

Mayones seem to be a respected company If I were you i would make sure I tried a fixed bridge version.

Also I would consider whether you choice has pickups that meet your taste, Bbg expense on top.
Campaign for the use of 'Pickups' and NOT 'Pups'

2012 UK Ibanezes are mince: seem nice, but lack variety (and the SV series is gone now?). A few interesting ones though. To be honest, the premium and prestige S's are on the radar if I go for a six string. Tried the walnut topped one a few months back and loved it.

Pickups, I'm not sure about. The Mayones has the Duncan JB/Jazz set. Any time I've tried them, I've liked the cleans, but haven't gotten on with the distortion. Might be the amps, but I've only every tried them into supposedly good high gainers (Marshall JVM and Egnater Armageddon).

I've ordered a set of Blackhawks to replace my JB/Jazz. The problem with The JB IMO is the lack of bass. I enjoy the mids and highs but it just flubs all over the place.  And the neck is no good for high gain (maybe a little soloing), only clean/crunch. You could definitely start with them and like 'em at first, but you'll eventually replace them.

"Flub" definately discribes my limited experience with the JB
